RECONCILE International’s Impact in Mugali, South Sudan

Mugali media Team

“Dear RECONCILE International,

‎We, the people of Mugali, would like to express our sincere gratitude for the positive changes you have brought to our community. Since your arrival, many good things have happened in Mugali.
‎Through your teachings and programs, people learned how to resolve conflicts peacefully and live together in harmony and peaceful coexistence. You also helped strengthen leadership in our community by filling important gaps among our chiefs and youth leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to serve the people effectively.

‎One of the memorable achievements during your time with us was Mugali winning the Pa Iyaa Football Gala. The celebration was a remarkable event that united our people. Many sons and daughters of Mugali who had not returned home for more than ten years came back to attend the celebration. It was a joyful and unforgettable moment for the entire Mugali’Ba.

Your work has made a lasting impact on our lives, and we deeply appreciate your dedication and commitment. Our message to Reconcile is simple: you have done a lot for Mugali, and we hope this will not be your last time coming here. The doors of Mugali will always remain open to you, and we look forward to continued partnership and friendship.

‎Thank you for everything you have done for our community.

‎With gratitude,

‎The People of Mugali”

Yei, South Sudan – RECONCILE International continues to stand alongside communities in promoting health, safety, and resilience through an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) awareness campaign in Yei and surrounding areas. As a border region with frequent movement of people between South Sudan, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Yei remains vulnerable to the risk of infectious disease outbreaks. Community awareness and preparedness are therefore essential in preventing the spread of Ebola and protecting lives.

The campaign brought together community leaders, faith leaders, youth representatives, women’s groups, and local residents to increase understanding of Ebola Virus Disease, its symptoms, modes of transmission, and prevention measures. During the awareness sessions, facilitators emphasized key prevention messages including regular handwashing with soap and clean water, avoiding direct contact with bodily fluids of infected individuals, reporting suspected cases to health authorities, and following safe burial practices. Community members were also encouraged to seek information from trusted health sources and avoid misinformation that can create fear and stigma.Faith leaders played a critical role in sharing health messages and encouraging responsible behavior within churches, mosques, and community gatherings.
